The foundation of our business approach is simple. Establish a relationship. Establish trust. Then talk about the work.

We believe the best way to provide value to our clients is to be involved in your projects as early as possible. Early input from specialty trades during design is the best way to guide decision making, constructability, and the best time to positively impact the project budget and schedule.

We thoroughly enjoy the process of working along side the entire team to produce a thoughtful and efficient design. This process helps facilitate a reduction of late-stage project changes, which always translate to delays and budget issues.

About Us

Our Story

A Family of Electricians

John Henry Flood is the founder and co-owner of Henry Electric Company. The company is a continuation of a deep family lineage of electricians. Our roots in the electrical trade go back to the early 1900s in Cleveland, Ohio.

John Henry’s great-grandfather Henry Joseph Erhardt Senior was born in Templeton, Iowa and became an electrical lineman. He worked with the crews who installed the first wave of overhead power lines starting in Iowa, working his way east. Henry Senior eventually settled in Cleveland, Ohio and started a family. Henry Senior then went on to become an electrician in Cleveland where he was one of the founding members of IBEW Local 38. These guys were the first wave of electricians to install electrical systems in new buildings and convert old gas lamp systems to electricity in homes and business.

In 1915, Henry Senior’s son was born, Henry Joseph Erhardt Junior (John Henry’s grandfather). Over the years, Henry Senior passed his knowledge of the electrical trade to Henry Jr. who utilized those skills throughout his life and passed the knowledge to many people, including his 10 children.

In 1960, Henry Junior’s 9th child, Michael Joseph (John Henry’s uncle), was born. Michael learned the electrical trade serving 6 years in the United States Navy and then went on to have a 35-year career as an industrial electrician.

In 1998, when John Henry was 13 years old, his grandfather came to live with him and his family. This is the time John Henry began to learn the electrical trade from his uncle Michael when they worked together to install wiring for some therapy equipment needed at the home.

From this point on, John Henry began studying everything about electrical work. In 2003, John Henry started a pre-apprenticeship with Local 38 in Cleveland, Ohio, the same local his great grandfather had joined 100 years earlier.

In 2006, John Henry completed his apprenticeship, received a degree in construction management in 2010, then embarked on a career in electrical construction and later went on to work with large scale general contractors to deepen his knowledge of the construction industry.

In 2025, John Henry decided it is time to take his years of knowledge and experience and establish Henry Electric Company. The formation of Henry Electric Company allows for his family to continue the heritage of providing quality electrical craftsmanship and superior customer service to the families and business within the community.
